Born in Post-Prohibition rural Louisiana Bernadene High Coleman grew up in Los Angeles where she continued her education at Loyola Marymount and California State LA.
Ever with a passion for books and reading, she set out to chronicle the events she first heard about in her youth; her first published work in the form of a novel, "Mama Rose", through word of mouth, sold thousands of copies.
After first releasing a poetry collection titled, "Listen My Children", she also published a second novel, titled "I Leave You My Dreams". An additional follow-up novel, "Beyond Color" was the fourth of her titles authored, published, and released.
Ms. Coleman, a widow, mother, poet, author, and grandmother of eight, became an example of the westward migration; from the South, yet quintessentially became, a product of California, higher education and opportunity; work and progress is still appreciated, and admired!
I was made to realize that I am responsible for letting the world know about my work... It is up to them to interact with it; if I do not share it, if I don’t put it out there, then no one even has a choice of whether or not they want to read it
